I remember when I was younger the salesman at the electronics stores or departments were very knowledgeabe about the products they sold. Not the case today. The average salesman today is some kid who knows little to nothing about the products. I've actually had salemen pick up the boxes or look up the User Manual online and just read to me from it. I can do that. I want a salesman who knows about the products - who can help me figure out what to buy. What happened to the expert salesman?

justDoIt Sat, Oct 25, 2014 9:39 AM Best Buy. That's what happened to them. Stores like this came along with cheaper prices. They hired kids cheap and sold cheap products. People bought from them because their prices were lower. Stores like Circuit City with the knowledgable salesman went out of business. Today Amazon is killing all the brick and mortar stores. Your expert salesman has been replaced by online forums and reviews and a few magazines that review products. If you have questions about the products - good luck. You can go into a forum like this one and ask your questions and maybe get an answer - maybe not. The "answer" you get may or may not have any basis in fact. The model electronics have adopted is you buy it - you play with it for a while - if you like it keep it - if you don't - send it back. If you can figure it out bravo. If not - tough. |
