The political right has been shoving globalization down everyone's throat for 2 decades now. "Free trade equals growth" is all we hear from them. When anyone mentions the tens of millions of Americans that have lost jobs to off-shoring and the lost manufacturing - most of whom are still out of work - all the right ever does is repeat the lie: "they all got better jobs" or parrot the "benefits of globalization out-weigh the costs." This is their way of saying it was ka-ching for me who cares about you. Now that people are waking up and realizing how devastating globalization has been for the was-industrialized world and are rejecting it the headlines try to describe this as a shift to the right. To the right? The right is pro-globalization anti-labor. I would call this a shift to the left. Anyone calling this a shift to the right has not been listening to politics for at least 20 years now!
